TAMPA, FL – Tampa Partners Tammy Giroux, Duane Daiker and Michele Hintson along with Charlotte Partner Dan Hansen participated in the 2020 Northeast Surety & Fidelity Claims Conference held September 24th - 25th, 2020. Due to COVID-19, this year’s conference was the first in its long history to be presented virtually. With over 200 attendees participating in the two day event, the 31st edition of the annual conference was a huge success. Shumaker not only sponsors the event each year but also has lawyers actively involved in planning and presenting. This year was no different as Dan Hansen spoke on the topic of “Enforcing the Surety’s Collateral Demand: From First Notice to Collection,” during day two.
In practice for more than two decades, which included many jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations, Dan Hansen represents businesses of all sizes in a variety of legal disputes and commercial transactions. A diplomatic problem-solver, he devotes approximately sixty percent of his practice to surety and construction law, representing sureties, contractors, owners, and construction materials manufacturers, including window manufacturers in commercial and residential claims, both in federal and state courts throughout the Southeast.
Tammy Giroux concentrates her practice on litigation involving construction and surety issues, real estate and land use issues, business disputes, including loan default, loan workout and foreclosure, and other complex commercial litigation. For more than 20 years, Tammy’s practice has included counseling and representing lenders, surety companies, owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in pre-suit dispute resolution where applicable, and then arbitration, mediation, and trial in federal and state courts. Additionally, Tammy regularly represents individual clients in a variety of complex matters, including construction and contract disputes. She endeavors to efficiently resolve disputes.
With more than 15 years of experience, Michele Hintson is a seasoned business litigator and Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Court Mediator who dedicates her practice to representing individuals and a variety of businesses, including insurance companies, for profit entities, and health care organizations, with their litigation needs. She also works closely with transactional attorneys to analyze risk during the inception of a business relationship, and engages with clients in various industries both during and after litigation.
Duane Daiker has represented surety insurance companies in connection with payment, performance, and fiduciary bond disputes for more than 20 years. His surety practice encompasses all aspects of suretyship, from initial claim evaluation to claim litigation and recovery. Duane previously served on the Editorial Board of the Fidelity and Surety Digest published by the American Bar Association, and is a regular presenter at surety conferences around the country including past Northeast Surety & Fidelity Claims conferences.
