TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP’s (“Shumaker”) commitment to supporting the communities it serves continues to shine during this holiday season through its Leadership Shumaker program, which provided gifts for 23 at-risk children through A Brighter Community’s (“ABC”) Holiday Assistance Program. The Leadership Shumaker program enables and encourages lawyers and staff to contribute both time and money to various public, private, and nonprofit organizations that promote the general improvement of neighborhoods and communities, benefit the most economically disadvantaged citizens, and promote the arts and other sources of economic development. Leadership Shumaker’s dedication to supporting ABC spans more than 10 years and has benefited hundreds of children.
“I am proud to work at Shumaker, a firm committed to giving back and making our community a better place,” said Shumaker Partner Victoria Knight Alaee. “I have been involved in A Brighter Community’s Holiday Assistance Program for many years through Leadership Shumaker, and it is a great organization. Particularly in this very difficult year, our participation made the holidays much brighter for many folks - the children we provided gifts for, their loving families, and for the entire Shumaker team that contributed to shopping for and delivering gifts.”
ABC has been a neighborhood resource for more than 90 years and it is the oldest nonprofit preschool still running in the Tampa area. Founded on March 2, 1922, ABC is dedicated to creating a brighter future for at-risk children by building a foundation of support through education and quality programming.
“Our families work hard each day to provide their children with a safe and stable environment, often sacrificing life’s little niceties to make sure the necessities are paid and food is on the table,” said Executive Director for A Brighter Community, Juanita McClinton-Lee. “The holidays bring for our families their own set of struggles as Christmas gifts and holiday meals are often more than our families can afford. The generosity of Shumaker provides our families with the ability to experience the magic of Christmas.”
