TOLEDO, OH – Toledo lawyers, Nicholas A. Huckaby and John (“Jack”) P. Kelly, have both joined the Board of Directors of TutorSmart Greater Toledo.
TutorSmart is a community-wide nonprofit whose mission is to help children achieve their academic potential by collaborating with existing tutoring providers to elevate the quality of, access to, and utilization of sustainable classroom-aligned after school tutoring in Greater Toledo. TutorSmart supports better-quality programming, coordinates professional development and training for providers, implements quality improvement efforts, and establishes data systems to track both youth participation and outcomes, while connecting programs to one another and to the school day.
"We’re thrilled to have both Jack and Nick on-board,” said Nathan Anderson, TutorSmart Board Chair. “We were originally looking to fill one open board seat with strong legal acumen, but when we met with Jack and Nick we learned about their diverse experience relative to each other, as well as their passion and commitment to improving education outcomes. We had to have them both!”
Nick is a member of Shumaker’s Litigation practice group and focuses his practice on disputes regarding contracts, franchises, leases, real property, construction, medical malpractice, and employment issues. Prior to practicing law, Nick was a high school educator and baseball coach.
