SARASOTA, FL – Sarasota Lawyer Jade Davis was selected to be a mentor for The Bridge Builders Esq. National Mentorship Program for Aspiring Black Lawyers.

The Bridge Builders Esq. is a partnership between National Pre-Law Diversity Initiatives, Inc. (National Black Pre-Law Conference, National HBCU Pre-Law Summit) (“NPLDI”), the National Black Law Students Association (“NBLSA”), the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (“NBA-YLD”), and the National Bar Association Law Students Division (“NBA-LSD”). The program is open to black college students, graduates, and working professionals who are interested in attending law school and could benefit from additional guidance, support, and accountability to stay on course to accomplish their goals.

Each pre-law student will gain support from a small group of mentoring circles, based on common interests, including one law student, one lawyer, and five to six accountability partners. Through the mentoring circles, the inaugural classes of lawyer mentors and law student mentors will be serving 350+ black pre-law mentees nationwide. Jade is one of 60 lawyer mentors who were recruited from various professional networks and black bar associations across the United States.

“I am grateful for another opportunity to invest in the success of this country’s future black attorneys,” said Jade. “Pipeline initiatives strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion in our institutions, organizations, and board rooms. The support system Bridge Builders Esq. provides to the mentees in each “circle of support” ensures that these students will forge forward to achievement. Most importantly, I am thankful to be at a law firm that supports and encourages my desire to build bridges.”

“At Shumaker, one of our missions is to improve the communities that we serve,” said Shumaker Partner and Diversity and Inclusion Committee Co-Chair, Maria del Carmen Ramos. “Jade’s involvement in The Bridge Builders Esq. is a perfect example of that. We are proud of Jade’s commitment to serve. She is superstar at our firm, and her mentees will be fortunate to have her as a mentor.”

Jade is a member of the firm’s Litigation practice group and focuses her practice on the areas of commercial and business litigation, where she represents individuals, small businesses, and large corporations.

Active in the community, Jade is a member of and serves numerous organizations, such as the Legal Aid of Manasota, Sarasota County Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and the Florida Bar’s Statewide Diversity Committee.
