Tampa, FL – Shumaker Advisors Florida, LLC announced today that former Hillsborough County Commissioners Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr. and Sandra “Sandy” Murman will be joining the firm. Both Les and Sandy served in the state legislature, as well as held the position of Hillsborough County Board Chair during their decades of public service.

Les served as a member of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners from 2010 to 2020. He served as the board’s chair three times. He also served as a member of the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2006 and in the Florida House of Representatives in 1992. He is the first person in the State of Florida’s history to serve as Democratic Leader in both the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate. Prior to his time in Tallahassee, Les served on the Tampa City Council.
Sandy was also a member of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners from 2010 to 2020. She served as the board’s chair on two different occasions. Prior to joining the County Commission, Sandy served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives where she was the first Republican woman to hold the position of Speaker Pro-Tempore.
Prior to her time in Tallahassee, Sandy worked for a Fortune 500 company and spent countless hours helping organizations that dealt with child abuse in our community.
