Former Chief Assistant County Attorney Jennie Tarr Joins Shumaker Advisors

Tarr joins former County Commissioners Miller and Murman in growing Shumaker Advisors

Tampa, FL –Longtime Chief Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney Jennie Granahan Tarr is joining Shumaker Advisors Florida, LLC as Director of Local Government Affairs. It was also announced today that Jennie will be joining Tampa Bay’s largest law firm, Shumaker, as an Of Counsel Attorney specializing in Labor and Employment law while also working on local government and land use issues.

“Jennie’s extensive experience with the county and depth of knowledge of labor and employment law will be a wonderful asset to our firm, and we are thrilled she is joining us,” said Shumaker Advisors Florida President and CEO and Shumaker Managing Partner Ron Christaldi.

“I am pleased and excited to have the opportunity to join such a great team of professionals and to utilize my public sector experience to assist Shumaker and its clients,” said Jennie.

Jennie is the latest addition to the growing team at Shumaker Advisors. Earlier this year, former Hillsborough County Commissioners Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr. and Sandra “Sandy” Murman announced they were joining the firm.

“I had the opportunity to work with Jennie for 10 years when I served on the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. She is a consummate professional and will be an asset to the Shumaker family,” noted Les.

“Jennie brought valuable expertise to many agencies that work with the county during her tenure of over 30 years. I had the fortune to work with her closely and she will be a tremendous asset to Shumaker,” added Sandy.

Jennie began her legal career working with her father, Tampa Attorney Thomas F. Granahan, in the areas of civil and criminal litigation. She later joined the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office, where she practiced for over 35 years.

Board Certified in City, County, and Local Government Law and a Board Certified Civil/County Mediator, Jennie served as a Chief Assistant County Attorney for the majority of her career in the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office. In the County Attorney’s Office, she was responsible for and oversaw such areas as Litigation, Eminent Domain, Social Services and Indigent Health Care.

A former officer on the Board of Directors for the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Jennie also served on the board for the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers.

In 2019, Jennie received the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court’s Professionalism Award for the Government Sector from the Hillsborough County Bar Association.

Jennie will split her time between Shumaker Advisors and Shumaker.
