TAMPA, FL – Shumaker Lawyer Junior Ambeau has been elected to the Gulfcoast Legal Services, Inc. (GLS) Board of Directors, where he will serve a two-year term. Formed in 1978, GLS is a nonprofit legal aid organization serving low-income clients who otherwise may not be able to afford an attorney. GLS serves the greater Tampa Bay area with offices in Pinellas and Manatee Counties, staffed by experienced attorneys, paralegals, and support staff who provide high quality legal services at no cost in civil matters for eligible clients ranging from consultation and advice to full representation in court or before administrative agencies.

“When I was looking into nonprofit organizations to potentially join, I was instantly drawn to GLS given its focus on core human issues, such as fair housing and immigration issues. These are issues I am all too familiar with. I am honored the GLS Board has welcomed me within its rank. As a Board member, I hope to further GLS’ core mission, which is to provide free legal services to vulnerable individuals on a whole host of basic human issues,” said Junior.

Junior is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Disputes Service Line, practicing primarily in the area of community associations. In his role, Junior serves as general counsel for condos and homeowners associations (HOAs). Before joining Shumaker, Junior was a complex commercial litigator, representing corporations and business lenders in various commercial and contract disputes.
