SARASOTA, FL; TOLEDO, OH; – Associates Eric L. Simpson and Steven D. Solowsky have joined Shumaker’s Real Estate and Development Service Line, where they are focused on all aspects of commercial real estate law. Eric is based in the firm’s Toledo office and Steven is based in the firm’s Sarasota office, both bringing wide-ranging experience to Shumaker.
Eric’s background in business and politics allows him to provide practical and solution-oriented legal advice to advance his clients’ strategic objectives. His real estate practice focuses on the acquisition, development, management, leasing, and disposition of commercial and industrial properties, office and retail projects, mixed-used developments, planned communities, and multifamily and condominium developments. Eric has broad experience assisting real estate owners, investors, and developers through the commercial real estate property life cycle, including due diligence review, acquisition and financing, and related development, entitlement, leasing, operational, and management services.

Steven advises both individual and corporate clients in the negotiation and drafting of contracts in a wide range of complex commercial transactions and commercial real estate closings. He works with clients throughout all phases of a real estate transaction, including the negotiation, purchase, leasing, and sale of various types of properties, such as commercial office buildings and oil and gas distribution facilities. Steven has experience handling complex commercial litigation matters in both state and federal court and has represented clients in jury and non-jury trials, American Arbitration Association (AAA) arbitration and class arbitration proceedings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
