Shumaker Partner Named to the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County Board of Directors

SARASOTA, FL – Board Certified Construction Lawyer and Shumaker Partner Brett Henson has been named to the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County’s (EDC) Board of Directors. Brett succeeds Shumaker Partner Dan DeLeo who has served on the EDC Board for the last six years. The EDC is a team of engaged public and private leaders committed to being the catalyst for a sustainable, globally competitive, vibrant economy. The organization’s goal is to connect entrepreneurs, business leaders, and major corporations to new and existing development opportunities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brett Henson to our Board,” said EDC President and CEO Lisa Krouse. “The EDC has been very fortunate to have had Dan DeLeo on our Board for the last six years. As he passes the board succession baton to Brett, we couldn’t be more grateful for Shumaker’s continued commitment to economic development, the EDC, and our county.”

Brett is a member of Shumaker’s real estate and development service line, and advises owners, developers, and other construction industry professionals in navigating construction projects from start to finish.  He devotes a substantial portion of his litigation practice to handling all types of construction disputes, including claims related to breach of contract, delay damages, workmanship and design defects, fidelity and surety bonds, as well as Florida’s Construction Lien Law.

“I am honored to serve on the EDC Board of Directors,” said Brett. “The EDC serves an important and unique role in promoting economic diversity in our region. I look forward to serving alongside this distinguished group of community leaders in an effort to expand existing enterprise and attract new businesses to Sarasota County.”
