TALLAHASSEE, FL – Shumaker is pleased to announce that Donovan Brown, an established lawyer and political specialist, will join the firm as an of counsel attorney.
“Donovan’s trusted reputation throughout the state of Florida is well known due to his diverse experiences in government, law, and politics at the highest levels,” said Ron Christaldi, Managing Partner of Shumaker’s Tampa office. “As a member of the Shumaker team, Donovan will help clients make a difference, by successfully navigating through complex legal and regulatory issues.”

Before joining Shumaker, Donovan was Vice President of Suskey Consulting, representing clients with regulatory and legislative issues pending before the state legislature and executive agencies. The majority of his work focused on heavily regulated industries, such as insurance, health care, gaming, information technology and data, transportation, the environment, energy, telecommunications, and education. He also worked on government appropriations and government procurement issues. Additionally, Donovan has experience managing his own government affairs and business consulting firm, and was regional counsel for a national trade association, doing government relations and public affairs throughout the southeastern United States.
Prior to his legal career, Donovan worked in politics as special assistant to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. He has held leadership positions on various commissions and boards, including serving as the Chair of the Financial Services Council at the Associated Industries of Florida and as a member of the Florida Automated Vehicles Policy Work Group. Donovan is active on the University of Florida Law Alumni Council and serves on the board of directors of a Tallahassee charity.
In addition to providing clients insight into governmental affairs, Donovan is frequently sought out by both print, broadcast, and online news reporters to help them evaluate, analyze, and frame pivotal governmental affairs and regulatory issues. He is a graduate of the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Communications from the University of Florida. He has been named to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, among other legal and community recognitions.
