Shumaker’s National Litigation and Disputes Service Line Expands in Charleston, Charlotte, and Toledo

CHARLESTON, SC, CHARLOTTE, NC, TOLEDO, OH – Shumaker announced today the addition of three new associates in the firm’s Litigation and Disputes Service Line. Abigail (Abby) Bechtol, Alia Kadri, and Nicholas Stewart have joined the firm adding to the continued growth of the group, which also added Associate Brittainy Joyner in the firm’s Tampa, Florida office earlier this year.

Located in the Charlotte office, Abby handles a wide variety of issues, including product liability disputes, and construction and business litigation. Clients benefit from Abby’s unique perspective and experience from her work prior to joining Shumaker, practicing on the plaintiff’s side of construction defect litigation, representing homeowners, homeowners association (HOAs), and developers in actions against contractors for defective construction. This experience allows her to understand all sides of such disputes.

Alia is in the firm’s Toledo office, where in addition to being a member of the Litigation and Disputes Service Line, she is also a member of the Labor, Employment and Benefits Service Line. Alia works diligently to assist clients in contract disputes, landlord-tenant disputes, and labor and employment issues. In addition to employer defense work, Alia has experience assisting clients in employment-related matters, such as reviewing employment policies for compliance with state and federal regulations and drafting various employment contracts.

Nick has spent his entire legal career representing individuals and businesses with their litigation and dispute matters. Located in the Charleston office, he has experience representing construction companies, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, school boards, doctors, lawyers, insurance carriers, and small businesses. In addition, Nick regularly handles retail and hospitality matters.
