Shumaker Partner Daniel R. Hansen Earns North Carolina Superior Court Mediator Certification

CHARLOTTE, NC – Shumaker is pleased to announce that Partner Daniel (Dan) R. Hansen has been certified as a North Carolina Superior Court Mediator; a certification that is required of all mediators participating in the Mediated Settlement Conference (MSC) Program, which is designed to offer parties, with the help of their attorneys and a mediator, the opportunity and support needed to settle their cases. In order to receive certification, applicants must meet threshold education and work experience requirements, as well as mediation training, observation, and good character requirements.

“In my adult life I’ve often served in the role of ‘peace maker.’ When I can facilitate peace between seemingly intractable, disputatious parties, I know I’ve fulfilled my legal career’s goal of helping people and businesses get through difficult times,” said Dan.

Understanding the emotional difficulties associated with complex litigation, Dan is known for giving clients trusted advice in the case at hand and in life. Corporate clients from a variety of industries turn to him for his extensive experience in commercial and business litigation, fidelity and surety law, wrongful-death and severe personal injury litigation, and construction law.

In practice for more than two decades, which included many jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations, Dan represents businesses of all sizes in a variety of legal disputes and commercial transactions. A diplomatic problem-solver, he devotes approximately 60 percent of his practice to surety and construction law and represents sureties, contractors, owners, and construction materials manufacturers, including window manufacturers in commercial and residential claims, both in federal and state courts throughout the Southeast. Dan’s ability to remain diplomatic and solve complex problems also allows him to successfully represent clients in matters.
