The primary goal of Shumaker’s Summer Associate Program is to provide the class with a realistic picture of what it is like to be an associate at the firm. Summer Associates are exposed to a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects involving multiple practice areas. Additionally, the summer program affords the opportunity, whenever possible, to participate in or observe aspects of the practice of law outside the office, including court appearances, depositions, discovery proceedings, client meetings, and transaction closings.
