Shumaker Lawyer Alicia J. Lewis Selected for Leadership Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL — Shumaker Senior Attorney Alicia J. Lewis has the opportunity to impact the Sarasota community as Leadership Sarasota has selected Alicia to join its Class of 2023. Leadership Sarasota is a program of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce that focuses on identifying and inspiring current and future leaders and helping them explore different organizations and facets within the community, while also creating lifelong relationships with their classmates. 

“I believe in walking the walk and taking initiative in order to create change. It is a privilege to be selected to participate in Leadership Sarasota, and I am excited to make a difference in the Sarasota community through my involvement in the program,” shared Alicia.

Alicia joins 53 other participants in the 10-month program who will attend sessions on leadership and issues critical to Sarasota. As part of the program, the class will adopt a project with a local nonprofit, leaving a lasting impact in the community. Leadership Sarasota has more than 1,000 diverse alumni, ranging from elected officials and CEOs from various industries.

At Shumaker, several lawyers have participated in the program, including Associate Erin Hope Christy; Partner and Labor, Employment and Benefits Regional Service Line Leader Jason Collier; Vice Chair, Management Committee and Sarasota Managing Partner Jennifer Compton; Associate Jade Davis; Partner and Litigation and Disputes Regional Service Line Leader Daniel DeLeo; Partner and Corporate, Tax and Transactions Regional Service Line Leader Ben Hanan; Associate Justin Senior; Partner and Financial Institutions and Insurance Business Sector Co-Chair Meghan Serrano; and Partner Christian Van Hise. Additionally, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Erica Shea participated in Leadership Sarasota.

Alicia focuses her law practice on land use, zoning, government procurement, public private partnerships, affordable housing, environmental law, entitlement due diligence, community outreach, and municipal government law. She successfully represents real estate developers and private property owners before federal, state, and local government agencies to obtain comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, site plan approvals, platting, variances, special exceptions, and code enforcement matters.
