CHARLOTTE, NC – Shumaker is pleased to announce that Partner and Retail and Consumer Business Sector Chair Christian H. Staples has been certified as a North Carolina Superior Court Mediator. This certification is required of all mediators participating in the Mediated Settlement Conference (MSC) Program, which is designed to offer parties, with the help of their attorneys and a mediator, the opportunity and support needed to settle their cases. In order to receive certification, applicants must meet threshold education and work experience requirements, as well as mediation training, observation, and good character requirements.

”Mediation is a mandatory procedure in civil cases filed in the North Carolina Superior Courts, and it has proven to be a very effective and cost-efficient means for litigants to resolve their disputes,” said Christian. “I look forward to serving as a mediator and applying my skillset to assist parties in resolving their disputes.”

A proven litigator with first-chair jury trial experience, Christian maintains a diverse legal practice representing businesses and individuals across a broad spectrum of industries in litigation, commercial leasing, and other business matters.

He is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in North Carolina and South Carolina and also litigates cases in the North Carolina Business Court, before various administrative tribunals, and in the appellate courts.
