Joseph K. Cole Re-Elected to Leadership Role for Toledo Bar Association

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo Bar Association (TBA) has re-elected Shumaker Partner Joseph K. Cole to a second term as Secretary. Joe served as Secretary from 2022 to 2023 and will serve another one-year term. The newly elected Board of Directors will be sworn in at the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Toledo

Joe’s long-standing commitment to the TBA includes previously serving as a volunteer attorney in their expungement clinic, as Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee, Chair of the LGBTQ Council, and currently serving as a member of various TBA Committees.

The Toledo Bar Association serves to provide outstanding service to its members and to assist them in serving their profession and the community.  

“I’m honored to help lead the TBA and to have the backing and encouragement of my peers,” Joe said. “I look forward to continued support of the TBA’s mission to ensure justice is administered fairly, the integrity of the legal profession is upheld, and the public has access to the court system.”

A respected litigator, Joe focuses his practice on insurance recovery; commercial litigation; and litigation, information, and claims management. He represents and advises clients in a variety of matters, including contract disputes, disputes between business partners, business torts, confidentiality agreements, and employment matters. As a former judicial clerk for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Mark J. Dinsmore of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Joe is particularly attuned to jurisdictional issues and has successfully challenged an Ohio court’s personal jurisdiction over a foreign subsidiary of an Ohio-based parent company.
