Emily G. Vander Schaaf

Paralegal

Emily is a paralegal in Shumaker's medical malpractice defense team, where she is involved in all phases of a case—from inception through trial. She supports our attorneys by preparing pleadings, performing research, scheduling depositions and mediations, assisting with discovery, and working closely with clients and expert witnesses as she coordinates all aspects of trial preparation.

With over two decades of service at Shumaker, Emily's previous roles at the firm include serving as a litigation legal assistant for the medical malpractice defense team, as well as a litigation legal assistant for the construction practice group. Her broad legal background, institutional knowledge, and dedication to the team make her an asset to clients and colleagues alike.

In her free time, Emily enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, photography, and spending time with her family and dog.
