Heather is a senior paralegal in the Labor & Employment Service Line and assists with all aspects of immigration law. She has more than 20 years of experience in a broad range of practice areas, including immigration, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
Heather's experience assisting with immigration cases includes:
- Applications for non-immigrant visas
- Employment-based and family-based immigrant visa petitions
- Applications for naturalization
Shortly after joining Shumaker, Heather assisted the Immigration Law practice group and instantly knew that line of work is what she wanted to do. She grew up with her grandfather and grandmother (Abuelo y Abuela), who immigrated to the United States from Cuba, and they often spoke of their pride of becoming Americans and contributing to this country in many ways. Her grandfather served in both the U.S. Army and Air Force, and both grandparents were teachers who invested their time in troubled communities, where they motivated dropouts to complete school by providing tutoring so students could finish high school or earn a General Equivalency Diploma.
In her free time, Heather enjoys time with her children, working out, fishing, and watching wrestling, football, and lacrosse.
