Howard's practice focuses on complex business transactions, including domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, infrastructure projects, securities offerings, equity and debt financing transactions, workouts and restructurings, and commercial matters. His corporate finance practice includes representing borrowers, issuers, buyers, and investors in leveraged buyouts and acquisition financings, senior debt financings, subordinated and mezzanine debt financings, and other financial transactions.

He regularly represents domestic and international companies, private equity firms and portfolio companies, non-bank lenders, sponsors, founders and private investors, and public and closely held companies. Howard also advised and counseled businesses on COVID-19 relief programs, as well as compliance with the CARES Act and related legislation. He regularly advises on and assists with appeals before the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Hearing and Appeals, IRS and SBA audits, merger and acquisition transactions where COVID-19 relief programs are an issue, and ongoing compliance issues related to other relief programs.

He has extensive experience with transactional and advisory matters, with a focus on:

  • Businesses in the manufacturing, transportation and logistics, technology, and financial industries
  • Helping clients navigate sensitive legal issues, including employee fraud and other white collar matters
  • Banking and compliance issues
  • Intellectual property infringement claims and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters; and
  • Shareholder disputes

Howard has traveled extensively for work and pleasure, including throughout the Americas and West Africa. He lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and two daughters.
