Katie is certified as a Trademark Specialist by the North Carolina Bar Board of Legal Specialization, which is the highest level of recognition by the North Carolina Bar in the area of trademark law. She is one of only 27 lawyers statewide to receive this distinction and one of only four Trademark Specialists in the Charlotte area. A federally registered patent lawyer, Katie regularly represents clients in intellectual property matters, unfair competition and trade secret matters. She handles all types of disputes and litigation in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and federal courts. Her background in biology and chemistry enables her to understand both scientific and trademark intricacies.

When she is not practicing law, Katie enjoys spending time with her two small children.
