A driven intellectual property (IP) attorney, Matt's background in chemical engineering and curious nature enables him to assist clients working in a broad array of technologies. He focuses his practice on drafting and prosecuting patents, filing trademark applications, and assisting with copyright matters.

Matt is a former Summer Associate at Shumaker, where he spent two summers working closely with the firm's IP team to draft patent applications, assist with patent and trademark prosecution matters, and learn how to best protect clients' valuable innovations. A graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law, Matt served as Senior Managing Editor of the Michigan State Law Review and served as an IP extern at a Grand Rapids, MI-based law firm, conducting trademark audits and researching potential infringements of client patents.

In his free time, Matt enjoys reading, traveling, boating, running, hiking, and watching a variety of sports.
