Mike is nationally recognized in surface transportation, logistics, and trade regulation law. With decades of experience, he represents a broad range of clients—including motor carriers, property brokers, and shippers—on matters involving mergers and acquisitions, freight damage and loss claims, contracts, risk avoidance, independent contractor issues, intermodal logistics, and regulatory compliance. Mike also brings deep experience in trade regulation, regularly advising clients on antitrust compliance, price discrimination, and competition issues.

He currently serves as General Counsel to a large national transportation trade association, as well as outside counsel to several international companies. Clients across diverse sectors—including transportation, health care, chemicals, industrial and building products, consumer goods, and scientific equipment—rely on Mike's strategic insight and creative problem-solving to mitigate risk and achieve business goals.

Mike has successfully served as lead counsel in numerous transportation law and civil and criminal antitrust cases, including matters involving:

  • Monopolization
  • Exclusive dealing
  • Predatory pricing
  • Mergers
  • Price discrimination

He has practiced extensively before federal and state trial and appellate courts, the Surface Transportation Board (STB), the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

A respected educator and thought leader, Mike has authored numerous law review articles and publications on transportation and trade regulation topics. He is an active member of the Conference of Freight Counsel (CFC), the Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA), and the American and Ohio State Bar Associations. Mike also served as an Ohio Bar Examiner from 1996 to 2019.

Mike's practical, solution-oriented philosophy centers on helping clients resolve conflicts, manage risk, and improve business outcomes in their interactions with customers, regulators, and suppliers.

Outside the office, Mike enjoys golf, fly fishing, and playing classical guitar.
