As Shumaker’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Sarah is responsible for the integrity of the accounting, finance, and tax functions for the firm and monitors and reports on key economic drivers. Her experience as a certified public accountant (CPA) has aided her in her many additional responsibilities, which include:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Financial planning and analysis
- Financial accounting
- Business metric reporting
- Tax compliance
- Lawyer outreach and training
Prior to becoming CFO, Sarah had served as the firm’s Controller since March 2013. Leading the finance team, alongside the firm’s prior CFO, she was responsible for the delivery of the financial services of the firm, including accounting, billing, treasury management, budgeting, and reporting. When Sarah became a member of the Shumaker Finance team, she brought with her 11 years of experience in public accounting, where she spent that time gaining excellent skills and a love for helping individuals truly understand the importance of working harder and smarter for their clients and for their bottom line.
Outside the office, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters creating memories at their lake cottage in Michigan, cheering on their favorite sports teams (The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds), and running 5k races together as a family. She is also greatly involved with the local chapter of the Girls on the Run International organization. Her strong passion for running, as well as her desire to empower young girls to be future leaders in our community, aligns well with this wonderful organization.
