A highly experienced and skilled intellectual property (IP) attorney, Jonathan focuses his practice on obtaining high-quality, commercially useful patents for his clients. Over the course of his 25-year practice, he has advised clients of all sizes, from individuals to Fortune 50 companies, and a wide range of industries, including the Aerospace, manufacturing, software, and medical device industries.
Jonathan prides himself on helping clients craft patent portfolio strategies that meet their business and budgetary needs, eschewing a “one-size-fits-all” approach. He analyzes the scope and validity of patent claims, helping clients understand and avoid conflict with the IP rights held by others.
With a well-earned reputation for developing a deep understanding of the client’s technology, Jonathan communicates easily with experienced engineers and scientists. He has worked with these professionals on patents for a variety of complex technologies, including gas turbine engines, rail and off-road vehicles, additive manufacturing systems, medical products such as organ preservation technologies and endo-prosthetic joints, and child safety seating, to name just a few.
Jonathan earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He spends his free time engaging in hands-on activities, including woodworking, home repair, and car restoration.
