Natasha M. Gaggar

Associate

With broad experience and passion for the construction industry, Natasha is known for her insightful and pragmatic approach to litigation, contract drafting, and negotiations.

Before joining Shumaker, Natasha gained her initial exposure to construction law as an associate at a boutique firm defending owners, architects, and contractors against commercial claims for design defects, such as water intrusion and concrete failure. This work ignited her desire to truly understand the fact patterns that formed the basis of these complex, multi-party disputes. In pursuit of this knowledge, Natasha joined a multifamily general contractor, where she worked her way through the project management and preconstruction tracks on projects ranging from $20M to $50M in construction costs, before stepping into a dual role as an estimator and in-house contracts counsel.

Natasha is experienced in drafting American Institute of Architects (AIA), Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), and proprietary construction contracts, as well as vital legal documents such as joint check agreements, weather delay policies/contract language, notices of delay and termination, and lien waivers, among others. Clients benefit from Natasha’s ability to step into their shoes through her hands-on experience with critical path method (CPM) schedules, construction budgets, pay applications, change orders, value engineering alternates, safety protocols, quality control, and eliminating scope gaps. Her unique skill set has proved invaluable to clients as she diligently devises solutions to their legal concerns.

Natasha is licensed in North Carolina and admitted to practice in the North Carolina Middle and Eastern District Courts. She holds an Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Certificate of Management in Lean Construction, is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Construction Section, and as a “Triple Deac,” earned her B.A., J.D., and M.B.A all from Wake Forest University.

Outside of the office, Natasha volunteers in support of FemFest NC, a nonprofit female-focused music festival that funds emergency shelters and supports domestic abuse victims. She also enjoys training for 5Ks, spending time with friends, traveling, and working on various visual art projects.
