Paul joined Shumaker in January 2004 as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to the Chair of the firm’s Management Committee, Paul is responsible for facilitating all strategic, policy, and operational initiatives for the firm across all offices.
He has served as Chairman of the firm's Pension Committee, and his ongoing responsibilities at Shumaker include:
- Human resources and recruitment
- Technology
- risk management and insurance
- finance
- marketing, business development and geographic expansion
- space planning
Prior to joining Shumaker, Paul held leadership positions for 20 years in Ohio health systems. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and has participated in Executive Education, Leadership, and Quality Certificate Programs at the University of Michigan, Disney University, and Florida Power and Light’s Malcolm Baldrige Program, for which he became a Baldrige examiner in 2018. In addition, Paul is a 20 Under 40 award recipient, graduate of Leadership Toledo, was named Volunteer of the Year by the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the March of Dimes, and is a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Outside the Firm, Paul is an active member of the community and supports local charities dedicated to improving food resources and nutritional health of underserved communities. Paul and his daughter are the co-founders of Ohio Animal Sanctuary Integrated Services (OASIS), which provides services to farm animal sanctuaries.
