COLUMBUS, OH — Shumaker Advisors' Director of Government Affairs Stanley E. Gates II has been selected as Corporate Brass in the upcoming 20th Anniversary Edition of Who's Who in Black Columbus, which celebrates local African American achievement in various industries such as business, politics, technology, sports, and entertainment. This marks the third consecutive year Stanley has received recognition, underscoring his growing influence in public policy, community engagement, and efforts to strengthen Central Ohio. A leader in the community, Stanley was also recently honored with the 2026 Change Maker Award at the Shades of Melanin Awards Gala.
Stanley brings a dynamic, solutions-focused approach to government affairs and public policy. Before joining Shumaker Advisors, he served as Director of Community Engagement for Columbus City Council, where he helped shape initiatives designed to expand opportunity and support the region's long-term growth. His current work includes advocating for clients' legislative and funding priorities, strengthening public-private partnerships, and advancing community focused initiatives, including helping secure millions in client funding through Ohio's 2026 capital budget cycle.
"Stanley pairs a deep commitment to public service with the ability to bring people together around meaningful solutions," said Andy Herf, President of Shumaker Advisors, Ohio. "His selection for a third consecutive year reflects the impact he is making across Central Ohio and the promise of even greater contributions ahead."
Stanley holds a Master of Arts in Education Policy from The Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Howard University. He also remains active in the community, serving as an Executive Committee Member of the Franklin County Democratic Party and as a board member for Besa, a Columbus-based nonprofit that connects individuals, corporate employees, and local charities to curated volunteer opportunities and civic engagement projects.
"I am honored to be recognized again by Who's Who in Black Columbus, especially as the publication celebrates its 20th anniversary," Stanley said. "This recognition belongs to the mentors, colleagues, and community partners who continue to challenge and inspire me. I look forward to building on that shared work and helping create lasting opportunities for people throughout our region."
