Firm secures funding for community security, juvenile justice modernization, and local infrastructure
TALLAHASSEE, FL — Shumaker Advisors is proud to announce a series of major legislative achievements following the conclusion of Florida’s recent legislative session. The firm successfully advocated for significant state appropriations spanning community security, digital modernization within the justice system, and vital local infrastructure rebuilding projects.
Among the top legislative priorities, Shumaker Advisors secured a combined approximately $1 million in critical community safety funding divided across three Jewish federations in Florida. These state appropriations will empower the organizations to implement advanced security technologies, fund on-site law enforcement personnel, and expand active shooter preparedness training to protect thousands of children, families, and community members.
“We are incredibly proud to have partnered with these three Jewish federations to deliver vital security resources during this past legislative session,” said J.D. White, Principal, Shumaker Advisors. “These appropriations represent a proactive and uniform effort to step up community defense, ensuring our synagogues, schools, and community hubs have the technology, training, and law enforcement presence required to keep families safe in an evolving threat landscape.”
The $1 million in combined security funding is distributed among the following initiatives:
- Southwest Florida Security Initiative: $400,000 awarded to the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples
- Florida's Gulf Coast Security Initiative: $380,000 awarded to the Jewish Federation of Florida's Gulf Coast
- Northeast Florida Security Initiative: $200,000 awarded to the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida
In addition to community security, Shumaker Advisors continued its track record of success for NoteActive, a premier digital logging platform that modernizes outdated, paper-based operations within state facilities. Following previous success with the Department of Corrections, Shumaker Advisors successfully secured new backing this session to expand NoteActive's secure documentation platform into juvenile justice facilities. The transition from paper logbooks to digital tracking can save up to 50 percent in staff man-hours, reduce incident reports by 10 percent, and significantly improve safety metrics and compliance reporting for youth on close supervision.
Shumaker Advisors also helped clear the path for the long-awaited return of a historic Pinellas County landmark. Following more than $1 million in combined city, state, and federal funding, Safety Harbor’s Fire Marshal Dick Brock Memorial Pier has officially reopened to the public. The century-old pier was completely wiped out more than two years ago when Hurricane Debby and two other devastating storms tore through the region in 2024. Thanks to targeted advocacy and collaborative funding structures, the pier has been rebuilt nearly identical to its original design, restoring a beloved gathering place for fishing, wildlife watching, and local families.
Through tailored advocacy and a deep understanding of Florida’s legislative processes, Shumaker Advisors continues to secure meaningful results that drive safety, innovation, and economic resilience across Florida communities.
