Shumaker Expands Insurance Recovery Capabilities with Addition of Christina A. Lakatos

AKRON, OH — Christina A. Lakatos has joined Shumaker's Litigation & Disputes Service Line as an associate, where she focuses on Insurance Recovery matters. She is dedicated to helping policyholders secure the coverage and funds available under their policies. Christina also brings experience across multiple areas of litigation, giving her a broad foundation for assessing risk, managing complex factual records, and advocating for clients.

"Christina's diverse litigation background and practical, multidisciplinary perspective position her to navigate complex disputes and develop strategies tailored to each client's objectives," said Amanda Leffler, Akron Managing Partner. "She understands that insurance recovery matters require both careful analysis and practical strategies, and she is well positioned to help clients pursue the coverage they need."

Before joining Shumaker, Christina practiced litigation at another Cleveland-area firm. She previously served as a Summer Law Clerk at the Cuyahoga County Public Defender's Office, a Legal Extern at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Ohio, and an extern to Judge Solomon Oliver of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Her experience beyond the courtroom—including work in international relations and wine sales—further shapes a well-rounded approach to disputes. That background supports her ability to understand different industries, communicate with varied stakeholders, and examine matters from multiple perspectives.

Christina earned her J.D. from Cleveland State University College of Law, her M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University, and her B.A. from Washington and Lee University.
