CHARLOTTE, NC — Shumaker continues the steady growth of its Litigation & Disputes Service Line with the addition of Associate Michael E. Shammas—an attorney with diverse experience in both the classroom and the courtroom.
Michael has represented clients across a diverse array of litigation matters, from commercial and contract disputes to family, employment, and immigration cases. Drawing upon his experience and strategic mindset, he is a strong advocate for his clients' interests.
"With his impressive background and strong legal acumen, Michael will be an excellent advocate for our clients engaged in all phases of litigation," said Steven Meckler, Shumaker Partner and Litigation & Disputes Regional Service Line Leader. "We are excited to see all he will accomplish at Shumaker."
Michael's previous experience includes litigating at a New York-based law firm, clerking for the Honorable D. Brock Hornby on the United States District Court for the District of Maine and for the Honorable Ronald L. Gilman on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and teaching and research appointments at Tulane Law School and the NYU School of Law. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Duke University.
Shumaker's national Litigation & Disputes Service Line has added nine new lawyers this year alone. The team of 120 experienced litigators represents clients across all forms of dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. When litigation is the best option, Shumaker's seasoned trial teams quickly identify the issues and devise strategies that offer clients the best chance of victory in state and federal court.
