TOLEDO, OH – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Katherine S. Decker, Toledo office Associate, and her team raised over $70,000 during the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2018 Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign. Kate was a candidate for the LLS 2018 Woman of the Year. The campaign itself raised over $300,000, which is record-breaking for the Toledo chapter.
The annual MWOY campaign is a ten-week fundraising competition among a select group of individuals in the community to raise funds to support blood cancer research and help blood cancer patients and their families. Candidates run in honor of the LLS Boy & Girl of the Year, who are local blood cancer patient survivors and sources of inspiration. The 2018 campaign kicked off on March 27th and concluded at the Grand Finale on June 8th where Toledo’s Man & Woman of the Year were announced.
Kate practices in the litigation and labor and employment practice groups. She is the former Co-Chair of Leadership Shumaker Toledo, which is the firm’s philanthropic group, serves on the firm’s Diversity Committee, and is the Chair of its Women’s Leadership Initiative (“WLI”) affinity group in Toledo.
Kate received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.
