CHARLOTTE, NC - Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to share that Charlotte Intellectual Property Partner Patrick B. Horne has earned the Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) credential. He joins a select group of Intellectual Property (IP) professionals that has demonstrated its dedication to higher standards of practice in the licensing industry. In the Carolinas, Patrick shares the designation with only 20 CLP certification holders and very few attorneys.
The CLP designation acknowledges licensing professionals who have demonstrated their experience and proficiency in licensing and the commercialization of intellectual property. It is built on internationally applicable standards of practice, knowledge, and ethics to differentiate licensing professionals who have taken the steps necessary to become certified.
To achieve the CLP certification, Patrick’s experience in licensing was established based on his development, use, transfer, and management of intellectual assets. Almost 15 years procuring patent and trademark protection and negotiating a wide variety of licensing and technology agreements involving procurement, purchases, machine maintenance, software licensing, information technology, software-as-a-service, and cloud computing and storage verified Patrick’s experience.
Patrick’s knowledge in licensing was demonstrated by passing the CLP examination, which tests core competency areas including strategy, opportunity assessment, IP protection, valuation, marketing, agreement drafting and development, negotiation, and agreement management.
