Shumaker Elevates Four Attorneys to Partner

Shumaker congratulates the following lawyers who have been named Partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2021. 

Katherine S. Decker is a member of the Litigation and Labor and Employment practice groups in the Toledo office, where she focuses her practice on wage and hour defense and a broad range of commercial and appellate issues. Kate’s previous experience includes representing employees in national wage and hour claims giving her unique perspective to counsel employers regarding state and federal wage and hour claims and assist in their wage and hour compliance efforts, including but not limited to reviewing and drafting wage and hour employment policies and auditing exempt and non-exempt employee classifications.

Brett M. Henson is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law. Located in the Sarasota office, he focuses in the areas of commercial and construction litigation, where he devotes a substantial portion of his practice handling all types of construction disputes. In addition to construction law, Brett routinely litigates product liability matters on behalf of manufacturers, including manufacturers of building products.

Wyatt J. Holliday is a member of the Employee Compensation & Benefits/ERISA practice group in the Toledo office. Wyatt has extensive experience with Taft-Hartley benefit plans, both as an attorney and as an administrator, giving him unique insight into the needs and goals of clients’ plans. He has worked extensively with auditors and agents from the IRS and DOL to resolve issues on behalf of his clients and he regularly speaks at local, regional, and national conferences about employee benefits and compensation matters.

Ryan S. Nichols is a member of the Broker-Dealer Litigation practice group in the Sarasota office; a team of attorneys who represent large financial institutions and high-net-worth individuals in securities litigation and violations of contractual covenants. Ryan is a Marine Corps. Veteran who served as both an enlisted Marine and as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps., where during his 10 years, he served in many roles, which include the Country Plans Officer for Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Sudan for the Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa from 2006-2007. His military honors include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
