Doug Miller Elected Secretary of the Northwestern Water & Sewer District Board of Trustees

TOLEDO, OH – Shumaker Partner J. Douglas (Doug) Miller was elected to serve as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Northwestern Water & Sewer District (The District). Doug’s term expires in December 2024. Doug’s long-standing commitment to The District includes being a board member since 2015 and serving as Vice Chairman from 2018 to 2021.

"As an engineer with a background in designing fluid handling systems and wastewater treatment plants, I understand the issues confronted by NWWSD," said Doug. "Serving on the board allows me to use that knowledge and experience for the benefit of communities in northwest Ohio."

Doug serves as the National Service Line Leader of Shumaker’s Intellectual Property and Technology Service Line. He is a registered professional engineer and registered patent attorney licensed in the State of Ohio and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to practicing law, Doug worked as environmental manager and solvent recovery system manager for a chemical compounding facility, and a project engineer in the chemical process group of a global engineering consulting firm.

The District is a regional water and sewer district chartered under Section 6119 of the Ohio Revised Code that serves over 20,000 water and sewer customers in Wood, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, and Sandusky counties.
