Angela first joined Shumaker as a Patent Agent Intern, gaining hands-on experience in patent preparation and prosecution across diverse fields such as chemistry, biomedical technology, materials science, and medical devices. Now, as a full-time Patent Agent, Angela leverages her passion for emerging technologies to help clients protect their innovations and navigate the complexities of the patenting process.

Angela’s vast background in science enhances her value in the patent world, where a deep understanding of complex technologies is critical. As a former graduate researcher specializing in small molecule synthesis, including total synthesis and structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies, Angela’s experience spans organic chemistry, drug discovery, pharmacology, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, and nanoscience. Her ability to comprehend intricate scientific concepts allows her to translate innovative ideas into strong patents, giving clients a strategic advantage in protecting their IP.
Angela holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Chemistry and a B.S. in Biochemistry, and she is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Her scientific knowledge enables her to support inventors and research teams with both insight and foresight, making her an invaluable partner for clients at every stage of the patent process.
