A paralegal in the Intellectual Property Service Line, Cecilia has extensive experience in trial preparation, exhibit organization, drafting motions and discovery documents, and serving as part of a trial team.

She also has experience in:

  • Patent and trademark prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Filing documents with the U.S. District and Appellate Courts
  • Maintaining a litigation docket pursuant to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Local Rules of the U.S. District and Appellate Courts
  • Civil litigation

Cecilia previously worked as a professor's assistant at Harvard Law School, which began her interest in the law. She went on to a role at a law firm, where she worked in business litigation, insurance litigation, intellectual property prosecution, and intellectual property litigation. After joining Shumaker, she has become senior paralegal and concentrates solely on intellectual property litigation. She has extensive experience in district court filings and cases in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, California, Texas, New York, Colorado and Georgia.

Outside of work, Cecilia supports the local Special Olympics program whenever possible. She also enjoys dabbling in cooking, antiquing, and traveling and is an avid reader.
