As Director of Government Affairs for Shumaker Advisors Ohio, Heather is trusted advocate for clients looking to promote their interests and make their voices heard in state government. She engages directly with the Ohio General Assembly, offices of statewide elected officials, and executive agencies on behalf of clients and ensures that clients stay apprised of legislative, administrative, and executive actions that could impact their businesses.
Heather brings diverse experience working in multiple levels of state government. Prior to joining Shumaker Advisors, she served as a Senior Legislative Liaison with the Ohio Attorney General's Office, where she worked on issues related to criminal justice, charitable gaming regulation, anti-human trafficking measures, operating budget and controlling board items, and proposed policies on artificial intelligence. Heather also previously served as a Legislative Aide in the Ohio Senate.
In both roles, Heather gained unique insights into how differing levels of state government work to improve the lives of Ohio citizens. She believes that state government is an ever-changing environment that is greatly influenced by relationship cultivation, and the opportunity to use her relationships to make a tangible impact is highly motivating and rewarding.
Heather holds a B.A. in Political Science from The Ohio State University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Fred, and rescue dog, Enzo. Together, they love exploring Columbus' restaurants and attractions, visiting nearby parks, and traveling to new destinations and learning about different cultures.
