A litigator, Jay's practice is focused on representing financial institutions and other judgment creditors in enforcing payment of uncollected money judgments—even those that have gone unresolved for many years. With four decades of experience, Jay frequently serves as a mediator in connection with bankruptcy, commercial, and real estate disputes to help litigants arrive at a business solution.

Jay is sought out by institutional and small business clients and both creditors and debtors for representation in a wide array of business and real estate disputes, including:

  • Foreclosure prosecution and defense
  • Commercial landlord-tenant disputes

  • All types of bankruptcy litigation

Originally from the Detroit area, Jay has practiced law in the Tampa Bay area since 1983 and joined Shumaker in 2012. Jay and his wife Claudia live in Redington Shores, and in his and in his spare time, he enjoys power-walking and weight-training.
