Jill K. Schmidt

Jill is a member of the Litigation & Disputes Service Line, where she focuses on civil trial practice with a concentration in complex commercial litigation, labor and employment litigation, wrongful death and personal injury, and construction law. A seasoned trial attorney, Jill has successfully tried cases before juries and presented appellate arguments in both the First and Second District Courts of Appeal. She represents clients across the United States, having obtained pro hac vice admission in several states, including California, Arizona, New York, Alabama, and Georgia. Jill serves as national litigation counsel for companies operating in a wide range of industries, including fertility and surrogacy clinics, heavy highway construction, and nonprofit organizations.

Jill brings particular depth of experience in representing heavy highway construction companies and trucking fleets with operations throughout North America. Her practice also encompasses pre-litigation dispute counseling and corporate training programs for accident investigations and evidence preservation requirements.

Beyond her client work, Jill is actively engaged in the legal profession and her firm. She serves as an executive board member of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar and as the firm’s co-hiring partner.

Jill’s accomplishments have earned significant recognition from her peers and the broader legal community. She is a recipient of the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer rating standard, which is awarded to attorneys who demonstrate professional excellence in legal acumen, communication skills, and ethical standards. In 2019, she received the Bennett Trial Advocacy Scholarship from the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, enabling her to participate in the South Eastern Circuit Bar Mess Foundation Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford, England.

Jill’s commitment to excellence in trial advocacy was evident early in her career. During law school, she served as a Judicial Intern for Chief Magistrate Stephen T. Brown, won the Advanced Moot Court Competition and was awarded Best Brief in that competition, received the John Evans Memorial Scholarship for excellence in trial advocacy, and earned honors in both Litigation Skills Pretrial and Trial courses.
