Matthew D. Hohman

Associate

A member of the Real Estate and Development Service Line, Matt focuses his practice on real estate finance matters, including projects ranging from mortgage-related matters to complex commercial developments and loan agreements. Matt is also experienced in handling real estate acquisitions and dispositions and commercial leasing. 

Matt's real estate experience includes:

  • Drafting and negotiating loan documents
  • Reviewing and negotiating commercial leases
  • Managing and closing complex real estate acquisitions and dispositions
  • Analyzing property due diligence issues, including title, survey, and zoning matters

Prior to joining Shumaker, Matt worked for Justice Patrick F. Fischer at the Supreme Court of Ohio, conducting legal research and reviewing proposed cases for jurisdictional issues. His passion for the law began in his undergraduate career at the University of Akron, where he studied international law in Japan. Outside of work, Matt typically can be found spending time with his wife, their dog, Ozzy, and cat, Gus. Matt also enjoys playing golf, skiing, and following Ohio State Buckeyes Football.
