Sam has a passion for taking a deep dive into many different technologies, learning about clients’ innovations, and crafting high-quality patent applications that meet their needs and goals. She assists clients in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in various domains, including biotech, chemical, materials, therapeutics, and diagnostics.
Sam has practical experience in drug discovery, pharmacology, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, biomaterials, and biomedical engineering. She has a B.S. in Chemistry from Augusta University, where she studied the properties of stemloop DNA aptamers. Sam also has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Emory University where her research was focused on the study of novel modulators of NMDA receptors for the treatment of various neurological disoders. Much of her graduate work is published in various scientific journals including ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters, ACS Chemical Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, Nature Communications, and Neuron.
When Sam is away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and cats.
