Sara serves as Vice President at Shumaker Advisors, where she focuses on government relations and advocacy for clients across the health care, human services, education, and nonprofit sectors. A seasoned public affairs professional, Sara brings experience working at the local, state, and federal levels to help organizations navigate complex policy environments, build meaningful relationships with decision makers, and advance priorities that strengthen the communities they serve.
Prior to joining Shumaker Advisors, Sara managed government relations for Baptist Health Care at all levels, while also overseeing the organization's community impact reporting and development. She previously served as Executive Director and Director of External Relations of the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce Foundation, where she managed government relations, crafted and advocated for the chamber's legislative priorities, helped guide its 2030 Strategic Plan, and supported the Leadership Pensacola program.
Sara's public service experience also includes serving on the staff of Congressman Matt Gaetz, where she oversaw district office operations, managed district events, and led community outreach and relationship-building efforts. In addition, she has worked on numerous political campaigns as both a staffer and volunteer coordinator, deepening her understanding of the legislative and political process and reinforcing her belief that people matter—and therefore, policy matters—because policy shapes how people thrive.
Known as hardworking and determined, Sara is a relationship builder and connector who brings purpose, persistence, and a people-centered approach to every client engagement.
When she's not working, Sara is a wife and proud boy mom to two amazing boys. She enjoys snowboarding, surfing, spending time outdoors, watching Ohio State football, and reading.
