Spencer P. Mead

An accomplished intellectual property (IP) attorney, Spencer skillfully guides individuals and businesses through the complexities of patent prosecution and IP litigation. He leverages his electrical engineering degree and experience working on patents involving machine learning, Fintech, wired and wireless communication, software, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and medical devices to the benefit of his clients.

Spencer has extensive experience handling a variety of IP matters, including patent preparation and prosecution involving sophisticated technologies for several Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Shumaker, he also worked in high-stakes personal injury litigation involving products liability and vehicular collisions that resulted in catastrophic injuries or death.

Spencer received both his J.D. and a Certificate in Intellectual Property from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served as the Managing Editor for the Journal of Law and Technology and was a member of the Moot Court Board and Student Intellectual Property Law Association.

Outside of work, Spencer enjoys playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three dogs. He is an avid Clemson Tigers fan.
