David H. Conaway Elected Chairman of Leading Global Law Firm Network

CHARLOTTE, NC – Shumaker Partner David H. Conaway has been elected Chairman of Globaladvocaten, an international network of leading law firms that provides high quality legal advice across the globe. David has served on the Globaladvocaten Board of Directors since 2014. The Chambers ranked, leading global law firm network has more than 1000 lawyers in over 25 law firms, with offices in more than 25 countries.

“David is a highly qualified lawyer who works with triple-A clients and with firms in Canada and Mexico, where Globaladvocaten is looking to gain three new members within the next three years,” said Former Chairman of Globaladvocaten Christoph Roos. “He and Shumaker have an excellent reputation, and after having chairmen from Europe for the past 32 years, it is time for a change.”

David focuses on representing manufacturing companies, from middle market to large multinational companies in the U.S. and globally, across many industry sectors. He has broad experience in handling commercial matters relating to customers, vendors, and the supply chain, including corporate insolvencies, commercial disputes and contracts, and cross-border commercial transactions, disputes, and insolvencies.

David has been involved in many of the largest insolvency cases in the U.S. and abroad, including representing unsecured creditors’ committees, suppliers to or customers of distressed companies, financial institutions, private equity or portfolio companies, boards of directors, counter-parties to contracts, and buyers of distressed assets.

He is active in cross-border matters, including foreign direct investment and doing business in the U.S., cross-border business transactions, cross-border commercial disputes, and cross-border insolvencies and restructurings. David has developed and maintains long-standing personal and professional relationships with financial and legal professionals around the world to assist with adding value for clients’ cross-border interests. Additionally, David is a member of INSOL Europ; is on the Board of Editors of Eurofenix, a leading publication on global insolvency; is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute; and is a member of the Association of International Trade and Finance Professionals.
