A highly skilled litigator, Jaime has extensive experience representing owners, developers, landlords and commercial tenants in all phases of litigation and appellate matters. His advocacy skills frequently result in victories for his clients at the trial and appellate levels. With his broad industry knowledge in an array of real estate and complex commercial matters, Jaime has represented a wide variety of clients in his near three-decade career, including some of the country’s largest landlords. He has successfully litigated disputes and handled matters arising out of commercial leases and contracts for the purchase and sale of real property, easement disputes, and commercial landlord/tenant litigation. In addition, his keen business sense and negotiation skills have consistently led to favorable settlements for his clients, including the resolution of numerous seemingly intractable stalemates that have freed clients from the inherent expense and uncertainty of litigation. Jaime also has a breath of experience in complex commercial disputes and arbitrations arising from mergers and acquisitions, shareholder disputes, and tax-related controversies.
Recognized as one of America's best lawyers for more than a decade, Jaime has:
- Successfully represented a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center seller in confidential arbitration seeking recovery of multi-million dollar Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) performance based earn-out payment from foreign publicly traded buyer
- Represented pharma manufacturers in a tax accounting dispute on a $100 million purchase, successfully recovering all due to his clients
- On behalf of a multi-billion dollar REIT, successfully obtained a federal court judgment against a national commercial tenant
- Defended an international chemical company against alleged multi-million dollar fraud and breach of warranty claims, obtaining a complete recovery for his client, including fees and costs
- Represented an industrial manufacturer in the prosecution of a multi-million dollar subordinated debt obligation in a multi-jurisdictional dispute against an institutional collateral agent and the obligor
- Defended series of title policy claims worth over $3.6 million against several major banks arising out of the fraudulent foreclosure prevention program
- Successfully defended a cooling tower manufacturer against a wrongful death claim arising from a collapsed stair tower
