Leighton is a tenacious client advocate who brings a broad legal background—including civil litigation, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property—to her work representing clients in a wide range of bankruptcy matters.
With particular experience in international law, Leighton's unique insights are an added value for clients navigating cross-border litigation. She is a member of the National Committee on U.S. China Relations, was a Princeton Asia Fellow, studied abroad at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and speaks Mandarin. Leighton earned her J.D. and International Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and holds bachelor's degrees in Chinese Language and Comparative Literature from the University of Georgia.
Leighton was inspired to practice law because it sits at the intersection of nearly all facets of life: business, psychology, history, language, and power. She believes every case is, at its core, a story about how people organize themselves, resolve conflict, and decide what is just, and she is proud to play a role in her clients' stories.
Outside of the office, Leighton enjoys cooking, reading, spending time with close friends and family, and exploring art and musical theater.
