Mary joined Shumaker as a member of the Litigation and Disputes Service Line and centers her practice around creditor’s rights issues and commercial litigation matters. Her persistence and zeal allow her to pursue the most favorable outcomes for her clients while remaining mindful of their unique situations and needs.
Mary’s diverse legal experience spans across a variety of litigation areas and transactional matters. Prior to joining Shumaker, she practiced law in Rhode Island and represented mostly business and health care entities in civil litigation and related matters, state agency hearings, business acquisitions, contract drafting, general corporate work, commercial real estate transactions, and commercial financing. Mary also represented receivers managing troubled companies.
After law school, Mary served as a law clerk for the Rhode Island Superior Court (trial court) Business Calendar and for the Honorable Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Her wide breadth of practical knowledge across several areas of law is a value added to her clients. She graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law, where she earned a J.D., and graduated summa cum laude from Bryant University, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
Outside of work, Mary enjoys reading, spending time with family, traveling, attending sporting events, and participating in a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, rollerblading, and playing golf.
