Christy is a Partner in Shumaker’s Benefits Service Line, where she focuses her practice on employee benefits, including single and multiemployer benefit plans. A conscientious and strategic attorney, she is known for her dedication to ensuring that her clients’ benefit plans serve their needs in an efficient and effective manner.
Practicing exclusively in employee benefits since the beginning of her legal career, Christy uses her extensive knowledge of this area of law to work with her clients on all aspects of the design and maintenance of employee benefit plans. She assists trustees, administrators, and other plan professionals in responding to participant inquiries, as well as amending or implementing the plan to better serve the purpose of the fund.
Christy represents pension fund clients in the demand and collection of withdrawal liability, including responding to requests for review and arbitration. She has litigated numerous matters before state and federal courts at both the district and appellate levels.
In addition to her benefits practice, Christy has spearheaded her clients’ cybersecurity compliance efforts. She frequently works with the funds, administrators, and service providers to navigate new and evolving cybersecurity regulations and enact measures to respond to ever-changing cyber threats.
In her spare time, Christy enjoying spending time with her 80-pound mini-goldendoodle. She loves all things related to New Orleans, especially the New Orleans Saints.
