Christy E. Lawrie

Christy is a Partner in Shumaker's Benefits Service Line, where she focuses her practice on employee benefits, including single and multiemployer benefit plans. Practicing exclusively in employee benefits since the beginning of her legal career, Christy uses her extensive knowledge of this area of law to work with her clients on all aspects of the design and maintenance of employee benefit plans. She assists trustees, administrators, and other plan professionals in responding to participant inquiries, as well as amending or implementing the plan to better serve the purpose of the fund. She has litigated numerous matters before state and federal courts at both the district and appellate levels.

Christy represents pension fund clients in:

  • Demand and collection of withdrawal liability
  • Responding to requests for review and arbitration
  • Spearheading clients' cybersecurity compliance efforts
  • Navigating evolving cybersecurity regulations and threat measures.

In her spare time, Christy enjoys spending time with her 80-pound mini-goldendoodle and loves all things related to New Orleans, especially the New Orleans Saints.
