Lloyd is a versatile attorney with extensive experience in patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks, licensing, and technology transactions. He is a member of Shumaker’s Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Service Line and focuses his practice on patents related to financial transactions and banking.
Prior to joining Shumaker, Lloyd worked as the Chief Legal Officer for a company in the furniture and bedding industry, where he leveraged innovative technological developments to achieve strategic business objectives. He relies on his corporate experience in counseling clients to maximize the value of their IP while effectively mitigating risks. Lloyd has represented businesses of all types and sizes, including Fortune 100 companies with extensive patent portfolios, mid-size businesses seeking to further differentiate their business through strategic technological innovation and trademark protection, and startup companies launching unique ideas into the marketplace.
Lloyd is a co-inventor on several patents and patent applications for emerging technologies in a variety of industries and understands the needs of inventors who seek to protect their concepts. His Master of Engineering degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering provides Lloyd with the technical expertise to draft patent applications in various technical fields, including:

Outside of work, Lloyd enjoys spending time with his amazing wife and three kids, fishing, and traveling. He is also very involved with his church, various home projects, and coaching youth sports. Lloyd is originally from Utah and is a lifelong Utah Jazz fan.
