Shumaker Elevates Four Attorneys to Firm Partnership

TOLEDO, OH – Shumaker announced today that four lawyers have been elected to firm partnership effective January 1, 2023. The new class includes members from the firm’s Charlotte, Tampa, and Toledo offices.

New Partners:

Tom BenGera (Charlotte, NC) An intellectual property (IP) lawyer, Tom focuses specifically on trademark, patent, and copyright law. He represents and counsels technology clients in IP matters, including pre-suit diligence, fact and expert discovery, motion practice, depositions, and at trial.

Representing clients in federal courts across the country, including California, Delaware, Texas, and Nevada, Tom has counseled clients on the offensive and defensive side of patent, antitrust, and trademark disputes, and has represented some of the world’s premier multinational corporations. His practice covers a wide range of technology.

Nicolas A. Linares (Toledo, OH) Nicolas is a partner in the Wealth Strategies Service Line where he focuses on the areas of trust and estate planning and administration, probate litigation, business succession planning, insurance and tax planning, and elder law. He is skilled in the area of sophisticated estate planning and wealth preservation and frequently helps clients develop and implement strategies to efficiently protect and distribute assets.

Thomas F. McDonnell, Jr. (Tampa, FL) Tommy is a corporate transactional attorney representing clients in forming, operating, and ultimately selling their businesses. Tommy frequently handles mergers and acquisitions ranging from closely held companies to large capitalization transactions.
